I was looking forward to read this book, and I knew I was gonna like it.

This book talks about many things and puts over the table many interesting topics and tropes.

I loved the way the author wrote every detail of every Riva sibling, and how wrote different points of view of different people at the party.

Two things I admired most about the author in this book is her ability to write such beautiful, captivating and attractive characters and how she is capable of telling the story in a way so fascinating and gripping.

I loved Nina's strength and how she carries everything in her back; how Hud is so sweet and how he loves with all his heart; Jay, his dreams and how he loves his family; and Kit, who is fresh air and dynamism, and loves her family

It was interesting to read how the author writes about alcoholism, heartbreak, love in all its shapes, motherhood, family, sexuality, illnesses, depression, in this book.

I highly recommend it, so what are you waiting for? Read it!

Leer a Taylor, es como transportarte a un lugar que, aunque hayas estado, pero no en esa época, te permite vivirlo como si estuvieras ahí mismo a tiempo real.

Esta novela no trata de una historia romántica, pero hay muchas historias de distintos amores dentro de ella.

He vivido esos 80's en California, que solo había visto en películas como: Flashdance, o series como Dynastia.

Con sus flequillos cardados y melenas ahuecadas, donde la música fluía y se te calentaba la sangre.

Donde escuchar a Prince y su futurístico (en ese momento) 1999 hablaba de una fiesta de final de milenio, donde va a darlo todo como si fuera la última, tratando ese fin de milenio como algo tan lejano y espacial. Pero muy indicado para todo lo que se vive allí, en ese punto exacto de Cliffside Drive donde vive Nina Riva.

Una historia del sueño americano poético, narrada por una familia donde los sueños no serán suficientes con solo mancharse los pies de arena en la playa, o montarte en una tabla y surfear sus olas.

Porque para poder soñar, en este caso lo primero será poder dormir.

Malibú y sus entresijos, sus personajes variopintos y un escenario tan árido que llega a quemar en lo literal y lo metafórico.

El sol es fuerte allí, y huele a salitre y libertad.

Pero a veces la libertad no es solo algo que puedas tener como beneficio de una lotería, a veces, tienes que sentir una mochila lo suficientemente cargada como para dejarla caer y decir que por fin te has liberado.

Una familia de apoyo incondicional palpable, unos personajes que, como siempre, se quedan para el recuerdo y de los que estoy casi segura … volveremos a saber.

Y tal y como lo diría Miley Cyrus, utilizaré un estribillo de su canción “Malibú” para describir mi sensación final en esta apasionante historia:

“I never came to the beach or stood by the ocean
I never sat by the shore under the sun with my feet in the sand
But you brought me here and I'm happy that you did
‘Cause now I'm as free as birds catching the wind”.
