I've finally finished reading IT! I started reading it on May 🤧 and I always got distracted with other books, reading only a few pages every weekend (listening to it on audiobook actually).

The book was AMAZING. I'll try to describe the characters, the setting, the writing, and the story itself. All in all, it really was something special, but it could have been equally good with 400 pages less. There were some unimportant parts that were too descriptive, just as long as the important ones.

The main characters were seven kids around 11 years old, and again, they as adults. There were also multiple secondary POVs, sometimes appearing just once, sometimes more, adding details to the story. The characters construction is impressive, we get to know and understand the kids deeply, and I was amazed of how true and real they felt. My favorites were Eddie, Ritchie and Ben.

The past and the present are interwoven all through the book, telling us about the confrontation between those kids and It. This creature, who feeds on terror and flesh, reflecting the most inner fears of Its victims to show the most nightmarish shape you could imagine, has live in Derry, Main, for thousands of years, and has no interest to ever leave.

The time periods are the 50's and the 80's, and Derry is a medium size town, with a famous history of violence and tragedy. Its presence infects the mind of the townspeople, making them ignore the fact that more kids disappear in Derry, than in any other city in the country. Every 27 years It awakes, and starts to feed, and at the end of each cycle, some unspeakable and utterly violent tragedy puts It to sleep again.

The writing style was excellent, I enjoyed the descriptions, which helped with the setting. The novel has an atmospheric quality to it, making you feel like you're living it. But as I said before, it was, in my humble opinion, unnecessary long.
Still, it was one of my favorite readings of the year.
