I'll write a short opinion on each of the eight works. ✎ The Emperor's Soul 5/5 ★ I read this novella a couple years ago, and loved it. The story is beautiful, the magic system, a great new addition to Sel, the world of Elantris, and the end was very emotive. I would love to read more about Shai's adventures. ✎ The Hope of Elantris 5/5 ★ This story takes place during the events at the end of Elantris, and it doesn't add much to it. But, call me sentimental, it was beautiful, a children story if you wish. ✎ The Eleventh Metal 4/5 ★ This is like a short prequel to Mistborn. It's the story of Kelsier, while he trained with mad old Gemmel. Sanderson shows us the moment when Kelsier takes the decision to really help the Skaa and avenge Mare. Also, we get to see how Ruin was already manipulating him to take this course. ✎ Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania 3/5 ★ This was a funny story, but irrelevant. I mostly enjoyed Handerwym's annotations. There are also new information about the Koloss, how they are made and exist in Scadrial's second era. ✎ Mistborn: Secret History 5/5 ★ This is 100% spoilers for the Mistborn series, so I won't say much. Just that it's an important sequence in the Cosmere, a must-read for those of us who want to know every secret, what happens behind the scenes. Because there's always another secret. ✎ White Sand (Excerpt) 3.5/5 ★ There's an excerpt of the graphic novel (which I already read), and the beginning of the 1999 draft that became the novel. I must say I'm not a big fan of graphic novels, so I liked the draft more. The story promises to be something huge though, so I can't wait to read volume 2. ✎ Sixth of the Dusk 4.5/5 ★ Again, awesome world-building! Sanderson never stops surprising me, I don't know where this guy gets so many ideas. ✎ Sixth of the Dusk is the name of the main character. The story takes place on an island. A dangerous place, where anything, from insects, to plants and animals can kill you in an eyeblink. The magic system has to do with a symbiotic bond, and it is completely original. There's also an advanced civilization, space ships and all! It's the farthest forward story in time. ✎ ✎ Edgedancer 5/5 ★ This was amazing! Lift is such an adorable character, and now we get to know her better, what she asked to the Nightwatcher, why she acts like she does. There're some important events here, related to her and to Herald Nale and Sezth, that will give continuity for a major shift in their goals, so I recommend you read this before Oathbringer.
