I recently had the pleasure of reading the Nightflyer's version of Gigamesh Ediciones, and it was nothing short of incredible. Despite being best known for his fantasy tales, G.R.R. Martin's sci-fi stories are also exceptional, as I discovered with the Tuf Voyaging series and Wild Cards stories. The Nightflyers story follows this trend, offering readers a thrilling sci-fi tale that is just as captivating as his other works.

The plot centers around a mysterious phenomenon called the Volcryn that is traveling through space. A team of human scientists charters the spaceship Nightflyer to rendezvous with the Volcryn, but as they embark on this mission, they discover that things are not as they seem. The Nightflyer appears to be haunted, and strange things begin to happen on board, including the death of crew members. As the crew members begin to die off one by one, the story's main heroine, Melantha Jhril, a human born on Prometheus, takes charge to uncover the mystery surrounding the killings and the strange happenings aboard the Nightflyer. Jhril is an “improved” version of humanity, faster, stronger, and highly intelligent, making her the perfect protagonist to navigate the complex plot of the story.

Throughout the tale, readers are kept on the edge of their seats as they try to solve the mystery surrounding the Nightflyer, including the strange behavior of its captain, Royd. The interpersonal conflicts between the crew members only add to the tension, making this an engrossing read that is hard to put down. The book also features beautiful paintings by David Palumbo that help to bring the story to life, adding to the overall appeal of the story. Overall, Nightflyer's is a thrilling and captivating tale of a potentially haunted spaceship that comes highly recommended to fans of Martin's work, as well as anyone who loves a good sci-fi mystery. The story is well-crafted, the characters are compelling, and the suspense is palpable, making for an unforgettable reading experience.
