Okay. Here we go, yuck. I haven't been this mad at a book since I read Harry Potter and not even then I was as angered by a work of fiction as I am now. I'm also mad because I enjoyed a lot the first book so I was expecting something decent at least. I'm sorry if you enjoyed this book. I can understand that some people may have enjoyed it and it's an easy read after all. Now, since I have SO MUCH to rant about I'm going to separate this review in a few parts: 1. Men with wombs 2. Coherence3. The love square 4. Leon freaking Grey 1| MEN WITH WOMBS I imagine Caragh in her house thinking "Oh, I need a nice surreal plot twist, what can I do???" and then deciding that a man with an uterus was crazy enough to do it.Well Caragh there are actual men with wombs out there you know??? And they are men, trans men and intersex men with wombs that are not out there existing for you to decide that "men with wombs" was a great plot twist. These men with wombs and XX chromosomes are considered women by Gaia and Will at a point even though they are freaking men. And the explanation is a weird hormonal thing lmao.How come it's 2400 and every single character is cisgender and straight????????????? Is this Hitler's sick dream or WTF?????? That whole storyline was cringe worthy.2| COHERENCE First of all, Gaia spends the whole freaking first book whining about her scar and now suddenly nobody gives a shit about it and she forgets about it??? It's mentioned 3 times in 500 pages. And suddenly not 1, not 2, but THREE (3) MEN are falling for her and think she's beautiful when in the previous book everyone saw her as ugly or it was uncomfortable to look at her.Also, the laws they have are absurd. Are you really telling me that there's a matriarchy and the women are willing to have 10 freaking kids and don't care about being trophies for men at a match???? And then at the end they get to choose a new leader and one of the options is a man that everyone knows and care for (Will, the only good character in this book) and the men choose a woman, a 16 year-old that came there months before and has constantly broken all the rules since then????????? 3| LOVE SQUARE What the actual- ?????????!!!!!Really????? Are you honestly telling me that Gaia falls for this two men after interacting with them 1 time (Will) and 2 times (Peter)????? And they even fight in that tournament to win her as a trophy, how romantic (that's sarcasm in case you hadn't noticed).Peter is disgusting. He loves her so much oh (after talking to her what? 3 times?) and he's such a NICE GUY and then she rejects him and suddenly he hates her and treats her like shit. Oh, unexpected (sarcasm as well). Also, Peter tells Gaia that drama that they had because of Adele and he says that he wouldn't marry her because Will loved her yet when it comes to Gaia he suddenly doesn't give a shit about his bro.And Will??? I like him but he's really so irrelevant.And Leon, oh, Leon. He deserves a whole section just for himself.4| FREAKING LEONIs this After???????!!! Because their relationship is so so SO toxic. Remember how in the first book Leon sacrificed himself for Gaia to have at least a chance??? Well that was in another universe because suddenly he's mad as fck because of that.Do you know what "gaslighting" is??? Maybe you should look that up.I hate HATE Leon so much. He treats Gaia like shit and then is her that feels like she needs to apologize for everything and make it right? I can't with this bs, honestly.It's late and I want to sleep but I have 30 MARKERS in this book. Every single one is a problematic and toxic or incoherent thing that happened. And it would be more than 30 but I only had so many post its.I will read the last book because I hate myself that much. But Caragh, please, please, I'm begging you, if you ever read this rant, learn how to write less toxic relationships or at least make everyone see it as a toxic relationship. I honestly can't believe that there are girls out there that want a boyfriend like Leon. If sickens me out.Goodnight.
