Hi! It's been a while since I last posted a review in English, so I'll do it now.

The Lord of the Rings was the first epic fantasy novel I read when I was a teenager, and I absolutely fell in love with it. It's been over ten years since I last reread it, so it was about time, and for the first time, here is my review for The Fellowship of the Ring.

I recently reread The Hobbit, and it put me to sleep. Sadly, it's boring and the character development is almost non-existent (except for Bilbo's, of course). The only thing it shares with TLotR is the amazing world building. I was afraid that, after so many years, I might find TLotR equally boring, but my fears were unfounded, because I loved the story as much as I did ten years ago!

The thing I love the most about Middle-earth is the rich and complex Lore Tolkien created. It's hard to believe one person could think about every possible aspect of believes, culture, history and traditions for not just one race, but many.

And it's not just that, of course. As I mentioned above, the world building is amazing, we follow the Fellowship on their journey through valleys, mountains, underground cities, forests, rivers, and every other landscape you can imagine, with incredible detail.

I was surprised once again by the few differences with the movies. Frodo's age, the time lapse between Bilbo's departure and Frodo's from the Shire, Tom Bombadil's help, when Glorfindel helps them escape the Ringwraiths instead of Arwen, the fact that Frodo could see Nenya in Galadriel's finger (one of the three elven Rings of Power), those are the main differences I can think of, but still, I think the movies were great, this tiny changes didn't affect the essence of the story.

I did like the Frodo from the book A LOT more than the one from the movies 😅 movie Frodo is quite annoying, but book Frodo is way more smart and rational. There is not much development for Sam, Merry and Pippin (yet), and we've barely started to know Legolas and Gimli. Aragorn has a stronger background story, and his character is obviously important. He is one of my favorites, along with grouty old Gandalf.

If you are one of those who still haven't read it because you think it's a slow, dense read, please give it a chance! You will be surprised 😉
And if you have already read it, I would love to read your opinions in the comments!
