La historia es contada por Winston, un miembro del partido socialista Inglés que gobierna Oceanía (Londres junto a otros países), este partido está liderado por el Gran Hermano, una figura propagandística creada para mantener a todos controlados como esclavos. Esta sociedad está manejada por cuatro ministerios; el ministerio del amor, que se encarga de reeducar a los miembros del partido a través de torturas y manipulaciónes. El ministerio de la paz, enfocado en la guerra y el odio. El ministerio de la abundancia, que maneja la economía de forma tal que todos puedan sobrevivir con la menor cantidad de alimentos posible. Y el ministerio de la verdad, que manipula y destruye los documentos históricos de forma constante, "cambiando" así el pasado a conveniencia del partido. Este libro fue muy desalentador 😅 y pensar que en el 49 se estaban publicando libros como este y hoy, 70 años después, seguimos temiendo el mismo futuro. El ser humano nunca aprende, no? Yo tengo sentimientos encontrados con este libro, pero si que me parece brillante. Da en el clavo y pienso que todos los tipos de lectores deberían leerlo al menos una vez en su vida. 5 estrellas! 🇺🇲 1984 takes place in London of the then-future, since the book was published in 1949. The story is told by Winston, a member of the English socialist party that rules Oceania (London, along with other countries), this party is led by Big Brother, a propaganda figure created to keep everyone controlled like slaves. This society is managed by four ministries; the Ministry of Love, which is responsible for re-educating party members through torture and manipulation. The Ministry of Peace, focused on war and hate. The ministry of Abundance, which manages the economy in such a way that everyone can survive on as little food as possible. And the ministry of Truth, which constantly manipulates and destroys historical documents so they can "change" the past at the party's convenience. This book was very discouraging 😅 and to think that in '49 books like this were being published and today, 70 years later, we still fear the same future. We never learn, right? I have mixed feelings about this story, but it's a brilliant book. It hits the spot and I think all types of readers should read it at least once in their life. 5 stars! |
