I recently had the pleasure of reading “El Perfil,” a fascinating science fiction book published by Nova Casa Editorial. Although it's a short work, it leaves you wanting more and hopeful for a possible sequel. The author, Jordi Brizo, has created an absolutely original artificial and futuristic world, accompanied by intriguing characters. Jordi Brizo is actually the pen name of Jordi Cabrerizo, a writer and LGBTI+ activist who describes himself as a geek, bisexual, and lover of four-cheese pizza. After exploring the world of screenwriting and audiovisual production at Kame Films, a company he co-founded, he decided to dive into the universe of novel writing.

“El Perfil” introduces us to a protagonist who wakes up in Eden, a futuristic complex full of rooms where they must overcome challenges and daily tests. Without remembering who they are or what their life was like, the main character starts from scratch upon waking up in a white room, hearing the phrase: “Please enter your profile.” While humor remains part of the narrative, as in his previous work “Doce galaxias y una corbata de patitos,” Jordi uses this element more incisively in this youthful and mysterious dystopia, which often satirizes and even parodies the world of social media and technology.

As for Jordi's personal life, he lives with his partner and their cat Lía in a city that used to be a town. Despite his hermit-like tendencies, he has friends he'd be willing to face off against in a fencing duel. The only thing he's more passionate about than writing is reading. Additionally, he loves to imagine himself as the protagonist of a television series, especially if it's a 90s show with canned laughter and a punk rock musical introduction. In summary, “El Perfil” is an exciting read and well worth immersing yourself in this futuristic world created by Jordi Brizo.

Hace poco tuve el placer de leer “El Perfil”, un fascinante libro de ciencia ficción publicado por Nova Casa Editorial. Aunque es una obra breve, te deja con ganas de más y con la esperanza de una posible secuela. El autor, Jordi Brizo, ha creado un mundo artificial y futurista absolutamente original, acompañado de personajes intrigantes. Jordi Brizo es, en realidad, el seudónimo de Jordi Cabrerizo, un escritor y activista LGBTI+ que se describe a sí mismo como geek, bisexual y amante de la pizza cuatro quesos. Tras explorar el mundo del guion y la producción audiovisual en Kame Films, productora que cofundó, decidió sumergirse en el universo de la escritura de novelas.

“El Perfil” nos presenta a un protagonista que despierta en Edén, un complejo futurista lleno de salas en las que debe superar desafíos y pruebas diarias. Sin recordar quién es ni cómo era su vida, el personaje principal comienza desde cero al despertar en una habitación blanca, escuchando la frase: “Por favor, introduce tu perfil”. Aunque el humor sigue siendo parte de la narrativa, como en su obra anterior “Doce galaxias y una corbata de patitos”, Jordi utiliza este recurso de forma más incisiva en esta distopía juvenil y misteriosa, que a menudo satiriza, e incluso parodia, el mundo de las redes sociales y la tecnología.

En cuanto a la vida personal de Jordi, vive con su pareja y su gata Lía en una ciudad que antes era un pueblo. A pesar de sus tendencias ermitañas, tiene amigos por los que estaría dispuesto a enfrentarse en un duelo de esgrima. La única cosa que le apasiona más que escribir es leer. Además, le encanta imaginarse a sí mismo como el protagonista de una serie televisiva, especialmente si es una de los años 90 con risas enlatadas y una introducción musical de punk rock. En resumen, “El Perfil” es una lectura emocionante y vale la pena sumergirse en este mundo futurista creado por Jordi Brizo.
